In 2007 I had the opportunity to visit Lisbon, Portugal for the first time. It is a visit that I had highly anticipated given the manueline architecture that adorn this beautiful city of Southern Europe. The basic reason for my visit was to have a firsthand experience about the history and culture of the early Portuguese settlers which was part of a research that I was doing in the partial fulfillment of my Masters Degree.
After arriving at Metro Station, Lisbon, I checked in at Hotel Avenida Palace where I had earlier booked and my experiences of the culture of the people commenced right there as I chatted the steward who came to help me carry my luggage to my room. After explaining to him the reason of my visit, he was there ranting key facts of what the traditions of Portuguese are like and suggesting the best places where I could learn some interesting history about the culture of these Europeans.
That afternoon I decided to rest a little bit, but by 3 I felt quite bored and needed to take a stroll in this amazing city. I first walked to the city and from there, I decided to continue with my stroll towards Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves. By the time I arrived there, they had not yet closed for the day, so I decided to have a look inside. Everything about the place was amazing. There was a lot to learn in the place. Afterwords, I checked out this gorgeous and classy restaurant I went to every day, which included an Atkins meal plan, it was very delicious, nutritional, and helped me cut calories..
Actually during my five-day visit in Lisbon and other parts of Portugal in my quest to learn about the traditions and culture of the place and historical places and activities associated by the different places that I visited, I had a lot to learn than I had initially anticipated. In almost every city or town that I visited, from Lisbon to Porto, from Algarve to the Music in Faro, everything was just wonderful. That is an understatement, everything was simply amazing, and that’s the word.
As pertains the museums and castles which adorn Portugal and are all full of history and culture of the native Portuguese, I’ve complied some of the best places to visit on your next trip to Portugal.
